Celebrate Waste Reduction Week 2022 in style at the Circular Fashion Festival, and enjoy 7 days of virtual and in-person events

The Guelph Tool Library is excited to present their first ever Circular Fashion Festival, a week-long event coinciding with Waste Reduction Week, a national movement that brings together youth, educators, policy makers, businesses and communities. Running from October 17th-23rd, The Circular Fashion Festival advocates for slow fashion, skill sharing, and the circular economy. The CFF offers a mix of virtual and in-person events, including Guelph’s Largest Clothing Swap and Sale on Saturday, October 22nd with over 5000 free items of clothing available to the community. You do not need to contribute items to the swap in order to take clothing home with you. Donations can be brought to the tool library up until Thursday, October 20th during regular hours.
Running from Monday, October 17th to Sunday, October 23rd, we’re offering 8 unique events:

Oct 17 – Fashion and the Circular Economy – Instagram Live – Virtual event – free – 10:30 – 3 – Be sure to follow @gtoollibrary

Oct 18 -Upcycled Fashion Show – 10C Shared Space – SOLD OUT – Advance tickets online $10-$30 sliding scale

Oct 19 – Sewing Machine Repair and Maintenance – Guelph Tool Library – SOLD OUT – Advance registration online

Oct 19 – The Future of Fashion – Presented by the Harbourfront Centre – Free, Virtual event with video available afterwards https://harbourfrontcentre.com/event/the-future-of-fashion/

Oct 20 – Mircoplastics in Fashion – Virtual event – free – advance registration online

Oct 21 – Upcycled Dinner – Fashion and Food – Church of the Apostles – In collaboration with the Helper Bees program. Online registration is suggested. Free/By donation

Oct 22 – Guelph’s Largest Clothing Swap + Sale – Old Quebec Street Shoppes – Featuring vintage, handmade, and slow fashion vendors and a giant free clothing swap – In collaboration with the City of Guelph. A contribution of clothing is not required for swap participation, and there are no maximum contributions. We ask all guests to be respectful and take only what they need for personal or household use. Accessible venue with accessible washrooms and fitting rooms on site. Remaining clothing will be donated to collaborating community organizations – Free/By donation. Pre-registration is not required, but encouraged!

Oct 23 – Clothing Repair Cafe – Guelph Tool Library – Free – Advance registration online,1pm-4 pm

Clothing Donations: We will be accepting contributions to the clothing swap up until Thursday, October 20th.
Clothing should be recently laundered and free of stains, rips, or other breakages. Pre sorting your clothes by type is very helpful for our staff and volunteers. We are accepting donations for all ages and genders. There are no minimum or maximum donation requirements to participate in the clothing swap. We are also accepting donations of hangers and freestanding clothing racks. We are unable to accept undergarments of any kind.
