Living Better on Less

LBOL Logo 1

Living Better On Less (LBOL) is a free educational program first developed at the Church of the Apostles in 2009. LBOL provides information to participants about living a healthy and simpler life by consuming less, spending less, and treading softly on the earth. The program is run over 6 sessions, each module focusing on a specific issue, such as various aspects of financial planning and preventing fraud.

A strategic partnership with the Guelph Tool Library (GTL) to run the Living Better on Less (LBOL) Program began a few years ago, with sessions that ran in 2025 for seniors and the general public. Programs run periodically throughout the year and are subject to funding opportunities.

LBOL for Seniors – New Series, Embracing The Journey

The Living Better On Less for Seniors is offering a new program called Embracing the Journey, which explores aging, mortality, and leaving a legacy. This offering is provided for free, in partnership with the Guelph Wellington Seniors Association and the Church of the Apostles. The spring series has been booked at the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre on Thursdays 2-4pm, May 7 to June 11 (6 weeks).

Topics will include:
Optimizing the Quality of Life Part 1 and Part 2 (wellness, meals, budgeting, home adaptations, downsizing, transportation)
Wills and Estate Planning (powers of attorney, beneficiaries, executors)
Medical Considerations (brain health, advance care planning, MAID)
Challenges as a Senior (isolation, anticipatory grief, elder abuse, scams)
The Journey (hospice, death doulas, conversations with family)

Quote by Wendy Bauman: “We are very excited about this new program! I look forward to rich conversations with participants and guest speakers, filled with key information that will guide us as we connect with our mortality and make clear plans for our final days. How do we have conversations with family and friends about these matters and what would we like our legacy to be? This and so much more…”
