    7. How may I borrow tools?
Please browse our full inventory and ensure that the item is not taken out for when you want to borrow it. You can borrow tools in person at the Guelph Tool Library.
    8. What is the Loan Period & Late Fees?
Most tools may be borrowed for 7 days. Seasonal items such as rototillers and fruit press may be borrowed for 3 days. However, members are encouraged to return tools as soon as they are finished using them. Late fines of $1/day per apply to any tool returned past its due date. Select tools have a $1 per tool per day fee or a $5 per borrow fee. Individual items will list this information.
    9. Can I put a Tool on Hold?
Reservations can be made online up to 14 days in advance. Please do not call in or email to reserve items.
    10. Can I renew a loaned out Tool?
One renewal per item is permitted after which late fees will apply. Members can renew their own tools by logging in to their account. Renewal requests can also be made via email to guelphtoolcalendar@gmail.com if additional help is needed.
    11. Do you provide consumables?
Things like saw blades are included with the daily usage fee for select items. Items like drill bits and sandpaper are not provided, you just kind of luck out if we have them here leftover from other generous members.
    12. What about Batteries for electric tools?
We cannot guarantee that rechargeable batteries (on saws, drills, etc) will be fully charged when tools are loaned out. Likewise, members are not expected to return tools with fully charged batteries. This policy is in place to extend the life of our batteries by ensuring that they are not being over-charged.
    13. What about Tool Loss, Damage, or Wear and Tear?
Before borrowing and returning tools, the Tool Library volunteers/staff inspect tools for safety hazards and any damage. All tools are to be returned clean and in the same condition as they were issued, barring normal wear and tear. If an item breaks during use, please let us know and bring the broken part with you. Please also see our Borrowing Policies.
    14. Am I responsible for cleaning the tools before returning?
Yes. The tools should be returned in their original clean state. A cleaning fee of $5 or more will be charged for any items returned and not cleaned.
    15. What kind of donations do you accept?
We accept a wide range of items that are typically only used a few times per year. These range from all kinds of tools, kitchen appliances, party supplies, arts and craft tools, etc. All items should be complete, in working condition and portable (as in one average person can pick up the item without much strain). If you have items that fit this criterion or have more questions, please contact us. Sending pictures of your items helps a great deal. You can drop off your donations at the Guelph Tool Library during our opening hours or we can pick them up.
