The Freehub Community Bike Centre is a do-it-yourself, volunteer-run, donation-funded program of the Guelph Tool Library operating in our Old Quebec Street Shoppes location (now in Unit 115, just down the hall from our old location). Everyone is welcome to visit to access a repair stand, specialized bike tools, common replacement parts, and assistance from our volunteer mechanics.

Support Us
Freehub is 100% dependent on donations from visitors, grants, and volunteers! You can support us by:
- Becoming a Guelph Tool Library member
- Making a donation or becoming a monthly supporter
- Volunteering with us – send us an email or come talk to us during shop hours. All experience levels are welcome and non-mechanic positions are available
- Spreading the word by reviewing us on Google Maps or giving us a shout-out on Instagram or Facebook
- Collaborating with us to help us improve access to cycling in your community. We are interested in hosting drop-in DIY repairs, workshops, and other activities. Please email us with collaboration opportunities
- Donating parts or a bike in good, working condition. Please email us beforehand to make sure we have room and use for an item you wish to donate as we have limited space, and see the resources below for other bike re-use options
The Freehub is grateful for the ongoing support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and City of Guelph. In 2023 we were supported by the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition and City of Guelph through the Activating Community Micro-Grant and by OPIRG-Guelph.
Bike Adoption Program
If you need a used bike or know someone that does, Freehub can help! Bikes are priced on a sliding scale to make them affordable to people at all income levels. We have a selection of ready-to-ride bikes prepared by volunteers as well as bikes needing repairs that we can help you complete before taking you new bike home.
To adopt a bike please visit us during open house or use this form to request a bike from our Bike Adoption Program. Walking in or submitting a form does not guarantee that you will receive a bike, but we will do our best to match you with what we have available within one to two weeks of your request.
Parts List
We currently stock the following new parts for sale to Freehub visitors:
- Shift and brake cable and housing (road and mountain ends)
- V-brake, cantilever, and side pull brake pads
- Patch kits and tire levers
- Tubes (700C x 18-23mm, 26″ x 1.95″-2.125″, and an assortment of others)
We also have a small stock of used parts available.
For other parts, we encourage you to visit one of Guelph’s local bike shops before going online. Our local shops will either have what you need or order it in just for you.
